The leftovers of the coffee have also been used as home remedies. Because of its high nitrogen content, coffee grounds are still used as garden fertilizer. Its high content of phosphorus, potassium and other minerals is ideal for plant development.
Coffee grounds also serve as ideal feed for compost and dew worms. It is a very good fertilizer, but should have a pH value between 4.5-5.3 otherwise it acidifies the soil. In addition, it has an insecticidal effect and works well against snails.
Coffee grounds can also be used as an ecological hand wash for heavily soiled hands. The grainy texture has a slightly abrasive effect and the oils that are still contained make creaming superfluous afterwards. Coffee grounds can also be used as a cleaning agent for bottles and thermos flasks, and earlier also for cleaning chamber pots.
Coffee grounds can also be used as paint. Here the coffee grounds are boiled with soda solution and the addition of alum creates a liquid that can be used as a color.
In addition, you can burn the sentence and get black color. When the coffee is burning, a strong odor develops that whitewashes all other bad smells. Against annoying insects in summer, it is advisable to burn some coffee powder in a bowl.

Variation: mix the coffee grounds with a little olive oil instead of honey. Otherwise apply the same to the face and leave for a few minutes.
Instead of a foul-smelling tree in the car, you can also use coffee to remove unwanted odors. To do this, you put a bowl with coffee grounds in the car overnight and let the coarse powder absorb the bad smells.
The best way to prevent a clogged drain is with coffee grounds. Fill your coffee grounds with approx. One liter of water into the drain and let it take effect for approx. 1 hour. Then rinse with 1-2 liters of hot water. Caution: Do not be too generous with coffee grounds to avoid clogging your drain.
But what do you do when coffee stains are the problem?
If the coffee stain on textiles is still fresh, it is advisable to pour some salt over it, just like with red wine stains. If the stain is already dry, you should pretreat the area before washing, either there are special stain removers or you can use a pre-wash spray. The latter does not always work, however. Of course you can also try gall soap or glycerine, even baking powder should be put on the stain with a little water, rubbed in and then washed, but the special stain remover has still proven itself best.
The best way to remove coffee stains from carpets is to have pure alcohol on hand and dab the stain with it until it is gone. However, it is advisable to test the effect of the alcohol beforehand in a place on the carpet that you normally cannot see. Possibly. not only does the stain come out, but also the color.
If you do not have a pot cleaner to hand to clean a very dirty area (this can be the oven or the barbecue in the garden), it is advisable to simply put some coffee grounds on a sponge and use it to work on the dirty area.
